Eminence High School Students attended the Interscholastic Competition on the Missouri State University-West Plains Campus.

Thank you to our area businesses for supporting our FACS program. The students made quilt blocks to send to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah for a contest. We did a little local judging before sending and here are the results. High School Division: 1st. Aidden Basham 2nd. Racheal Dooley 3rd. Hailey Blackburn 4th. Santannah Smith and 5th. Brynne Spurgin. 8th. grade: 1st. Kellie Blackburn 2nd. Trista Keeling and Erin Pitts 3rd. Cassie Lyon 4th. Will Counts and 5th. Carter Voyles. There were two that tied for Best of Show. They were Aidden Basham and Hailey Blackburn. I was able to provide prizes due to the generosity of Cross Country Trail Rides Western Store, Dos Rios, Huffman's One Stop, Margie's Place, Rowden's Sinclair, Security Bank of the Ozarks, and The Fast Stop. Mrs. Thompson's Biology Class was working on creating chemical reactions, and they did a series of experiments and had to identify if it was a chemical or physical change.
Mrs. Thompson's Animal Science class took a trip to Mrs. Spurgin's farm for some hands on experience.

The 8th grade students and the students that are in FACS/Design classes in the fall participate in the School Block Challenge. FACs students Mary Ferguson and Alexis Watring won first in the 9-12th-grade division of the Moda School Block challenge. They received a $150.00 prize. 2018 was the 25th. Anniversary Year for the contest. There were 209 blocks that were entered and exhibited. There were 262 students participating in grades K-12.
20 States were represented: CO, SC, FL, NE, UT, GA, VT, OH, WY, NY, KY, IL, TN, AL, AR, MO, MT, IA, MI, PA. The most states in a single year! This contest is sponsored by Moda Fabrics through the National Quilt Museum in Paducah KY. Great job ladies!
Congratulations to two Eminence middle school students Tristan Weaver and Emily Wallace who were chosen to have a poem published in a celebration of Poets Summer 2016 by Creative Communications.

2016-2017 Junior Beta
The Junior Beta group represented our school and community very well this year at the State Convention. We had 8 State Champions who qualified to compete at the National Junior Beta Convention in June 2017 at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Way to go!
